Welcome to the world of Team Thomson Wedding Photography. We are Ken & Janet Thomson, professional wedding photographers. We work as husband and wife team photographing weddings throughout Scotland. Our photographic style is - well, why not look at the photographs and decide for yourself.....
As we close down for the Christmas and New Year holidays, here’s a short “video Christmas card” from the Winterfest in Glasgow. For gearheads, the film was made with the Canon 5D MKII camera and the 50mm f1.2 lens.
Enjoy the film, and make sure you check out the beards on those shepherds! To view in HD, click here. Merry Christmas!
Our friends Lorraine and Michael just opened the most wonderful shop in Glasgow’s fashionable West End. The shop is called The Wooden Heart, and is full to overflowing with the most wonderful gifts and home decor items – including lots of lovely clocks, a personal weakness. How about those Love/coffee cups as a wedding gift? A selection of photos is below, see them all at The Wooden Heart page. Don’t walk, RUN to 112 Byres Road and indulge in a little retail therapy, and tell Lorraine we sent you!
August 10, 2009 - 10:37 pmmichael coyle - Loved the photos, and still pinching ourselves that this is our shop. You bring it alive so magically, and we have been emailing absolutely everyone we know with the link. Thank you so much, and we look forward to the finished website you are doing for us.
You are just so talented... if our girls don't grow up soon and get married then we might just have to re-marry ourselves, if only for the album! Thanks again, these are fantastic, and even better than we hoped they might be.

Andreea & Colin came from overseas to marry before family and close friends in the wonderful and wildly romantic setting of Lennoxlove House. The house, recently refurbished, and the gardens are truly outstanding, a superb setting for a Scottish wedding. The ceremony took place in Lennoxlove’s own chapel, located within the main house. The evening party was extremely spirited – everyone had such a good time that it seemed there must be twice as many guests as were actually there.
Nisreen and Ib planned the wedding with everything – and then added a bit more! The ceremony incorporated both Sudanese and Scottish traditions to reflect the backgrounds of the couple, and many family members were involved. Then African dancers entertained the guests, followed by belly dancers, followed by dinner, speeches, a candle-lit cake cutting in the gazebo, followed immediately by fireworks, a ceilidh and then a paper lantern release – wow! Apologies if I missed anything, but my head is still reeling. The entire event took place in the beautiful Clyde Valley surroundings of Cornhill House at Biggar.
August 21, 2009 - 2:37 pmNisreen and Ibnauf Suliman - Thank you Ken and Janet for truly making the best job of our wedding. From the first time we spoke, you (Ken) set our minds at ease by your great attitude and manner. We especially liked the extra effort you put in getting to know us and our friends from facebook, it meant a lot.
From then on, we were truly inspired by your professionalism before, during and after the wedding. You gave us great advice for the setup and seeing the pre-wedding shoot album on the day gave us a great boost to start the day. The photo guestbook was a great touch and all the guests loved that they could write their messages along the photos that were just taken.
When we arrived back from our honeymoon, the best surprise was finding the CD and prints with all our pics ready for us. The photos were just great, there was depth in each and every one and captured the whole day. You captured so much and gave more than a window but an experience in each photo you took. Lets just say we spent hours looking at them. Thank you very much.
As for the slideshow, that was easily the highlight, it has reached all corners of the world and was a fantastic touch. We can not thank you enough now seeing the album to be online. A special thanks to Janet for making it look like a work of art.
Above all, for us starting our lives, it really is very nice to see a married couple working so well together. You make a great team and we are definitely very pleased we chose you to be our wedding photographers. We wish you the best in all you do.
For those reading and contemplating whether to book Ken and Janet, trust me you will have the best team around and will not be disappointed. These guys will make your day hang around forever!
There was a lovely relaxed family atmosphere to the day when Jennifer & Leigh were married in the elegant surroundings of the Glendevon Room at Gleneagles Hotel. The tables for the wedding breakfast were decorated in a most vibrant colour that we feared might not be fully captured in the photographs – fortunately, we were wrong! A large proportion of the wedding party had travelled up from England, but they became enthusiastic Scottish dancers when the band struck up with some ceilidh music.
A dark and heavy rainstorm formed the romantic backdrop to Laura & Richard’s wedding ceremony Glasgow University Chapel – at least we kept telling the guests it was romantic!. Laura is highly organised – it is the first time I’ve seen the bride take charge of the Marriage Register, showing everyone exactly where to sign. After the ceremony, the remnants of the storm provided the opportunity for more romantic moments as we incorporated umbrellas and reflections in puddles into the photography. The day was bright and breezy by the time we reached Lochgreen House in Troon – we could have been in another country. Laura’s dad made an speech that was both funny and touching – and note the photo of the tags betting on the length of the speech – the shortest guess was 48 minutes!
When the bride is a beautiful actress and the groom a handsome teacher, you can bet you are set for a gorgeous wedding, and that proved to be the case when Lindsay & Fraser were married at St Marnock’s Church, Kilmarnock. Transport to Brig O’Doon was stylishly provided by Waterside Weddings, but we don’t have space for our usual dynamic car photo this week! The couple’s love of roller coasters is reflected in the cake design (and the honeymoon plans!). One of many unique touches was the evening release of Sky Lanterns, and of course we just had to stay to capture that in the photographs.
Alison & Martin’s wedding was another international affair as the groom’s family travelled all the way from New Zealand to attend. After a lovely service at St. Andrews Bearsden, the couple travelled in style to Glenbervie House in a wonderful 1948 Olsmobile Futurematic Convertible from Waterside Weddings. Guests were expecting a great speech from Alison’s Dad as he has done this a couple of times already, and I have to say he did not disappoint!
Kim, Ben, their families and closest friends came all the way from the USA to marry in the magnificent setting of Dalmunzie Castle in Glenshee. We love Dalmunzie because it has the feel of a remote Highland fastness though only two hours from Glasgow or Edinburgh, and the food and customer service are world class. The wedding ceremony was held in the tiny, romantic Glenshee Parish Church, and we had an unexpected bonus – as Kim & Ben came down the aisle, the minister rang the church bell to celebrate the marriage. It doesn’t get any more romantic than that!
Weddings are always joyous affairs, but there seemed to be an extra dose of family joy when Jane & Chris were married at Ballathie House in Perthshire. The atmosphere was of a weekend house party, the setting and food fantastic. The four young bridesmaids were not only beautiful, they were also extremely well behaved – most of the time!
