Team Thomson Photography is the husband and wife team of Ken and Janet Thomson. We named our business to reflect the fact that we each contribute our unique talents to the final result. Typically we both photograph your wedding, sometimes only Ken, depending on your preferences and budget. Either way we always work as a team, encouraging one another and lending our special skills and expertise to the finished photographs and wedding album.
Ken, principal photographer and creative force behind the business, has a great way with people, individually or in groups. With his artistic eye and photography skills, Ken is ideally qualified to be a wedding photographer – it is the job he was born to do!
Janet brings her own set of skills to the team. In addition to being an excellent photographer, Janet is an accomplished watercolour artist who adds a unique perspective to our coverage. Janet’s graphic arts qualifications are put to excellent use as our expert on album design. Her skills in fastening buttonholes, fixing dresses and calming brides (and their mothers) have helped get many wedding days off to the right start.
Our forte is unobtrusive, natural, storytelling photography. We don’t demand a lot of your time on your wedding day, and don’t expect you to become our models – we never forget that we work for you and not the other way round. Taking photographs quietly and in the background, we capture the emotion and the romance. We seek out the details that make your wedding unique – the venue, the dress, the flowers, the cake and, of course, the people. Most of all, we capture the spirit of the day, recording the memories you will treasure.
We provide beautiful custom made wedding albums, which are available as classic matted books or as magazine-style storybooks. Every album is personally designed by us from your choice of images, and approved by you before completion. Smaller albums for parents, miniature copies of the main album and DVD shows of your wedding photos are also available. We can also provide digital files on disc, an option often favoured by our overseas clients.
To learn more or just to chat, please use the “Contact” button at the top of the page to get in touch – we love to talk about weddings and show examples of our work!

P.S. for Americans considering a Scottish destination wedding – we lived in New Jersey, Chicago and Orlando USA for 11 years, returning to Ken’s home town of Glasgow in Scotland to set up our wedding photography business in 2001. Ken photographed his first wedding in the early 90′s on a yacht on the Hudson River in New York, nearly falling into the water during the ceremony. The experience gained living and working in the United States and photographing weddings there has proved invaluable as Scotland is a favourite destination for American couples getting married. We are very familiar with the traditions and cultural differences between American and Scottish weddings, and can even spell correctly in US English!
